News from Carol Cotton, our Church and Community Pastoral Worker (June)

The photograph, opposite, was taken on a day out to the lovely Trentham Gardens. When one of my friends saw it she wrote the word ‘Freedom’ underneath. It made me start thinking about the word ‘Freedom’ and how wonderful it would be if we felt real freedom in life, in Church, in worship, in doing what God asks us to do. A great verse from the Bible is: 2 Corinthians Chapter 3 Verse 17 ‘Now the Lord is Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom’.

As you read this magazine I will be recuperating from a recent operation. Strangely, I am quite looking forward to taking time out to read, rest and be refreshed both physically and spiritually. A bit of sunshine wouldn’t go amiss too!! I hope, over the coming months, for those of you taking holidays, you too will experience refreshment and special times with God.

During August there will be 2 days of ‘Holiday at Home’ again. For those who don’t know what this is, it is for anyone over approximately the age of 60 (ish), especially for those who may not have a holiday, but really for anyone. On August 15th we will have a morning at Church with a fun speaker, activities and a cooked lunch and on August 22nd we have been invited again, to Steve and Brenda Wilkinson’s lovely garden for lunch and singing with Fiona Simpson. This will begin at 12pm and transport will be provided. More details and booking forms will be available soon. Please put these dates in your diary.

Cameo will continue as normal on the 4th Sunday of each month with or without me, hallelujah! Please keep using Cameo as a way of inviting family, friends and neighbours to a user- friendly service and afternoon tea.

The good Pastoral Work continues in the Church, with the wonderful help of our Pastoral Visitors, Home Group Leaders and many others who care and love each other through happy times, sad times and challenging situations. Our prayer is that everyone will feel our love and more importantly God’s love as they travel through the various things that life can throw at us.

Please contact the office while I am out of action during the next few weeks, if you need any assistance.

God Bless

Carol Cotton
