Friendship Café welcomes those in our community suffering from Dementia, and their carers, for a fortnighly café.
There is conversation, laughter and spontaneous singing from our visitors, as well as a real sense of caring from those who volunteered. We have resources that have been specially purchased for the cafe, including reminiscence books and jigsaws. Others can enjoy the more physical activities such as chair basketball and hoop-la.
We have a strong pastoral system at KMC. Rob (Minister) and Carol (Lay Worker) plus a large team of volunteer visitors provide pastoral support particularly for the elderly, housebound and those in full time care.
If anyone would like a visit or to be prayed for please phone the office and Rob or Carol will contact you. The Church is open each morning for personal prayer and quiet, but on a Wednesday morning people are available to listen and pray if needed. We also have a team of people available to pray with someone after worship if required.
We have a furniture store for good second hand furniture, which we then, in conjunction with The Children’s Centre, the Welcome and others, provide families with furniture who may be experiencing a difficult time. We also can provide a team who will go and decorate a room for a family.
Tuesday Afternoon Fellowship meets every week, and everyone is welcome.
The afternoon begins at 2.00pm with a few moments of worship. This is followed by a guest speaker, or sometimes a musical quiz. Through the year we have special services, events, and also an annual bring and buy sale.
There are always refreshments and, at certain times of the year, a lovely shared afternoon tea. We usually finish at about 3.30pm
