Itinerant House Group (Thursdays weekly)

Meeting Type:

Group leadership: shared

This house group is a mixed age group of six couples and two ladies.

We meet every Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in different members' homes, but tend not to meet in school holidays.  We have tea/coffee and cake while people are turning up and this is accompanied by general catching up on situations of people for whom we have been praying and what we have been doing since we last met.  We then have a time of prayer before beginning the more formal study time.

The basis for our study varies.  In the past we have sometimes used videos on which to base our discussion, we have studied a book from the Bible (the most recent being Revelation) or used Lenten or Advent material.  From time to time we also use the Navigators' Press series "Design for Discipleship, Your personal examination of Biblical discipleship", which is a series of seven books: Your Life in Christ, The Spirit-Filled Christian, Walking with Christ, The Character of the Christian, Foundations for Faith, Growing in Discipleship and Our Hope in Christ.

In the summer break we try to get together one Saturday as families in someone's garden (weather permitting) for a barbecue or shared meal and we usually have a shared meal for our last meeting before Christmas.  Because of work commitments and young children and their activities, attendance varies but usually there will be around half a dozen of us meeting together.  We have a shared leadership, not only as far as leading the meetings is concerned (and no-one is obliged to lead) but also on the organizational side.
