Steward Profile : Chris Templar
I have been married to Christine for nearly 43 years and we have two adult children, Rebecca and Stuart. We moved to Chelford from Timperley 3 years ago, and were both welcomed into membership at KMC early in 2011.
My mother was a Scottish Presbyterian and my father an Anglican, so although I was baptised as a child in a Presbyterian church, my churchgoing in childhood and teen years was middle-of-the-road Anglican, and I was confirmed at 14 years of age, although without a full understanding at that time.
Christine’s family was Baptist and, in the mid-1970s, our family started attending Altrincham Baptist Church where we all took an active part in that church’s life. We were both baptised by full immersion in the mid-1980s, and in 1987 we joined Christine’s parents at the Keswick Convention for the first time. We enjoyed powerful teaching there for many years and also both became voluntary workers in Keswick.
At that time, Christine’s parents were members of Arnside Methodist Church in Cumbria, and we were regular visitors to that church ourselves, thus receiving our induction into Methodist ways!!
Now, in older years and greatly saddened by many of the things I see going on around me in the secular world, I remain totally committed to my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour, that He has His plans in place for the world, and that all He requires of me is –
‘To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.’
Micah 6, v 8.
